Nathaniel Booth to Archer Johnson May 23, 1771 This Indenture Made this twenty third day of May in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy one Between Nathaniel Booth of the County of Amelia of the One Part and Archer Johnson of the County of Chesterfield of the other Part. Witnesseth that the said Nathaniel Booth for and in Consideration of the sum of three hundred twenty five Pounds Current Money to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge himself fully Satisfied therewith Hath Granted, Bargained and sold and by these Presents for himself and his Heirs..... Bargain and sell unto the said Archer Johnson his Heirs and assigns forever One Certain Tract or Parcel of Land and Premises Containing by Estimation Three hundred and twenty six acres .....lying and being in the County of Amelia and on the West side of the sweathouse Creek...... At a Court held for Amelia County the 23rd Day of May 1771 This Indenture was acknowledged by the within Named Nathaniel Booth party thereto and Ordered to be Recorded Temperance Booth Wife of the said Nathaniel personally appeared in Court and having been first privately examined Voluntarily Relinquished her Right of Dower.
