The following was found in the Los Angeles Herald newspaper, September 4, 1908:

Calvin Thornton, a pioneer resident, died this morning at his home, Los Kobles Avenue and Washington Street.  He had lived here for twenty-two years. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, from the Friends' church, and Interment at Mountain View cemetery will follow.
